Do good stuff today

In years to come
You will be more sorry about the things
You didn’t do, because they would seem dumb,
Than about those you did on your faith, hope, love wings.

So do good stuff today,
Do it with courage, without delay.
Skip reflecting on what they will think or say –
Do kind, wise, and simple things at home, at work, at play.

How to be happy

Banff
Be happy – the shortest and the only way is Christ.
Direct your ways to Him in all:
At home, at work, at leisure…
Let your kind deeds be filled with pleasure.
Keep Him in sight in winter, spring, summer, and fall.
Praise Him as if tomorrow may never come –
Say those kind words, do kind deeds, keep calm.

Be yourself whatever they say

Be yourself whatever they say,
Don’t be under anybody’s thumb.
They want you to go? How about you stay?
You’re strong without any rum.

It’s not easy, but try to smile
And don’t be afraid to display your knowledge –
That’ll help you to cover thousands of miles;
Be yourself at home, at work and at college.

He left his home so long ago

He left his home so long ago,
They were telling him, “You’re cool!”,
But soon he had nowhere to stay or go.
Well, he wasn’t a fool.

The man had relied on money
And not on wisdom’s voice;
The money flew away like fresh honey,
But it was his own way, his own choice.

His cash disappeared
And so did his jolly friends,
But the young man wasn’t yet feared,
He just realized that a road often bends.

Now his bedroom was a park,
His dreams were his food;
He went to sleep with dogs’ bark,
Try to imagine his mood.

But it’s time for me to end.
The young man came home.
Wisdom became his new friend,
Clouds never appeared above his dome.

His experience wasn’t funny,
But he realized that it’s never too late to improve
And it’s useless to rely on money.
Well, I’ve tried to retell the story, but haven’t meant to prove.

Ісус Христос народився

CAM00318
Ісус Христос народився,
У світ прийшов, як дитя з’явився.
Ісус Христос народився!

Син Божий як людина прийшов,
Від Отця Благий зійшов;

Life of a modern scholar

Mount-Yamnuska2-Szmurlo
What is life of a modern scholar like?
He (let us use masculine for the purpose of convenience)
Gets up, brushes teeth, drinks water, prays, and rides his bike.
He does not start his day with scholarly opinions.

He returns from his workout,
Takes shower, if required,
Has his breakfast, sometimes with sauerkraut.
He does not start work until after meal to avoid being tired.

When the meal is done,
It’s time to tackle tasks;
But for lunch he is gone
To eat, to rest, to prepare to answer whatever his class asks.

When his work (research and classes)
Is done for the day,
He puts away bulbs and weird masses,
He returns home without delay.

He has his dinner before six o’clock.
This meal is lightest, lunch is mid,
Breakfast is heartiest – this rule is like a rock.
He rejoices over what he did.

Besides his usual things,
He goes to a swimming pool twice a week.
He goes to Church on Sunday to share prayer and what the Lord graciously gives.
He makes healthy food, he is meek.

He likes reading books about adventures,
Enjoys spending time with family and friends.
He does charity and other worthy ventures.
At 9pm his day ends.

He goes to bed at this time.
He prays, brushes teeth, washes his face.
This scholar likes wise and harmless rhyme.
Things in life are to be taken at a moderate pace.

Environment

Environment
Our environment is our home.
Nature is fragile and needs protection.
We get food and all we need under its dome,
But today it is in a state which requires a decisive action.

Wars, transportation, air pollution,
Empoisoned agriculture…
These things require a wise solution.
Man is a reason-endowed creature, not a dumb vulture.

First we need to control our appetite,
Then we should develop alternative ways –
Each of us can make his/her impact light.
We should act fast – within hours, not within days.

Love is a distant star

Love is a distant star:
It guides us home wherever we are.
Start doing things with love truly –
May God help you to live fully!

Love love

Love love and seek it at home, at work, and everywhere,
And it will yield its fruit you won’t know where.
It will cling to you
As if you were covered with glue!

Love love and you will find!
If someone does not understand, never mind;
Smile and keep your way ahead.
May God’s love protect you from your feet to the head!
